5 SOULFUL WAYS TO ENHANCE YOUR INNER BEAUTY

5 SOULFUL WAYS TO ENHANCE YOUR INNER BEAUTY

Inner beauty comes from within. It’s what you project out for others to see and experience. It’s the energy, attitude, passion, presence and character of the person that other people are drawn to. Other people are naturally attracted to a person who has embraced her inner beauty.

  1. Connect to your breath. Do some deep, slow breathing to connect with your body and your soul. Breathing releases negative energy and brings in a sense of peace, calm and grounding to our being.

  1. Find and express gratitude even in the small things. When we are in a state of gratitude we appreciate life and beauty more and are open to receive more.

  1. Discover and immerse yourself with what nurtures you I call this soul nourishment. Walking in a park, reading something inspirational, gardening, watching a sunset, whatever feeds your soul.

  1. Create your environment as a sacred sanctuary where you feel loved, nurtured, beautiful, tranquil. I call it “my happy place”.

  1. Ask yourself, how do I feel and what do I want to experience, versus focusing on how do you look.

If you have ever had a negative body image, low self-esteem, or feel as if you don’t measure up to society’s standards of what you should look like, then perhaps my coaching program is for you.  I lovingly share ways that helped me to overcome my own negative self-image, and offer you tips on how to build your self-esteem and confidence, healthy ways of living, and how to awaken and let your inner beauty shine.

I have been there so I understand

I have struggled with this and am still struggling as I am going through changes. I know what’s it like to have physical pain, to struggle with weight no matter what you do. I have received the insensitive, ignorant remarks about if I just stop eating, eat the right foods and exercise, etc then I wouldn’t have this problem. People don’t understand that sometimes things are beyond your control no matter what you do. People with back, neck knee or other injuries that prevent them many activities, hormones, thyroid, metabolism, etc out of whack and you are going through the process to see what works, etc. Negative body image because of people including yourself judging, criticizing, body shaming, etc. I know how it feels. I have been there. I have chronic neck pain due to an automobile accident that was not my fault. I have a thyroid and adrenal issue. Stress has caused havoc on my body. I have been on the roller coaster of weight gain and loss.I have found ways to help me overcome my own negative body image and how to take care of myself. I wrote about my struggles and how I overcame them in my new book, Awaken to Your Inner Authentic Beauty. Perhaps it will help and inspire you as well.

11 Tips to Start your New Year Right

11 Tips to Start your New Year Right

1.Beginning the day

One of my favorite nourishing self-care practices is to begin my day by being present with myself for a few moments. I do this by being silent and taking a few deep breaths. I focus on my breathing and then say a little prayer of gratitude. I then set my intention for the day and what I want to bring into it. It helps to ground and center me.

A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset. Think positive thoughts, be grateful you are alive, and look forward to what the day will bring you.

2 Exercise Your Brain

Stimulate your brain. Start a new hobby or pick up an old one. Find a new challenge. Go back to school, read up on different subjects that interest you. Do crossword puzzles. Perhaps, learn a new language. What would excite you?

I began to learn Italian when I was 52; I want to learn Spanish next.

I also picked up candle making as a hobby. I became very sensitive to the smells that candles come in, so I decided to research natural-based candles that are either unscented or used with essential oils

3 Simplify Your Life

Throw out old medicines, cosmetics, and outdated food.Recycle newspapers and magazines, cutting out any articles or parts you want to keep and put them in a folder or binder for later use.

Sort through your clothes and get rid of what no longer fits you, or what you haven’t worn in over a year. Spread the wealth and pass them onto friends or those in need.

4 Gratitude Journal

Purchase or decorate a notebook to keep on your nightstand. Each night write down 3 things that you are grateful for that day. Relax into that feeling as you fall asleep.

The next morning, read over your list and set intentions for your new day that you will find at least 3 things to be grateful for. You will find that as you become more aware of all your blessings, you will have more than 3 to record in your journal each night.         You may even need to buy another journal!

5 Feel Good Box

Save all the cards, e-mails, and letters that people have sent you that express gratitude or what they value or love about you or congratulate you for your accomplishments. Put them in a special box or folder. When you are upset or feeling down, pull out your collection and read them again to remind yourself of how great you really are!

6 Be in the Present

We need to accept our bodies at the present moment. Our bodies are always changing and the body we have today will not be the same body we have tomorrow because our cells are always changing. However, what we do today will affect our future bodies, so we need to treat our bodies today with love, respect and kindness. Positive changes today will have a positive effect in the future.

7 Celebrate your body for all the things it can do. Move and enjoy your body. Go walking, swimming, biking, dancing or take up yoga – whatever makes you feel good and energized.

8 Eat mindfully.

Eat without distractions. Take your time and savor the experience. Notice the taste, texture, color, aroma, and temperature. Never stand; always sit down when eating. Lay the table with all your best finery and present the food in your own way that is beautiful. Say grace, light a candle, and play calming music to set an atmosphere of love and beauty.

9 Focus on healthy lifestyle choices and let go of the outcome. Focus on choices that make you feel good on the inside. When you consistently make healthy choices your body will slowly find a healthy equilibrium.

10 Just One Step

Each day choose to make a positive change. It could be something as simple as taking a daily supplement or eliminating one soda a day. Know that each step you make takes you toward good health.

Every time you make a positive change in your lifestyle, put a penny, quarter or dollar, whatever you choose, into a jar. At the end of the month, you will see all the positive actions you have taken. Either buy yourself something special or give it to a charity of your choice.

11 Schedule your annual checkup and dental appointments today.

Don’t put them off until something goes wrong.I schedule mine on my birthday, but some people like to schedule them in January each year. Do whatever works for you.

True authentic beauty is you as an unique and brilliant individual that is capable of embodying who you are in the fullest expression. It’s living in conscious alignment with your essence. When you radiate peace, love and joy, you become timeless. These traits exist inside of you.

“The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.”- Audrey Hepburn

Holiday Eating and Celebrating

The holidays are upon us and although it can be a happy, joyous and festive time of year, it’s a time many of us deal with our body image and worry about putting on extra pounds. Families can sometimes have a way of triggering us, and we may be tempted at the office with so many clients giving us goodies or the office staff bringing in things, parties to attend, etc.

There are some people, including the media, that will make us feel guilty or try to get us to buy a diet program so we can be fit for the holidays or look good for the holidays. My advice- Continue reading
